The U.S. government reportedly has awarded billions to companies doing business with Iran, often in violation of U.S. sanctions, over the past decade -- a reality that suggests the new round of sanctions being sought through the United Nations could have limited effect.
The New York Times reported Sunday that foreign and multinational American companies have reaped $107 billion in contracts, grants and other payments from the federal government over the past 10 years. The Times analysis found $15 billion of that went to companies violating U.S. sanctions by investing huge amounts in the Islamic Republic's energy sector.
The U.S. government generally discourages investment in Iran and restricts U.S. companies from doing most kinds of trade with the country. That embargo, though, doesn't do much to foreign companies and overseas subsidiaries of U.S. firms, the Times reported.
Further, the newspaper found that the separate Iran Sanctions Act -- which punishes foreign companies pumping over $20 million in a year into Iran's oil and gas sector - has never been enforced.
Part of the concern over investment in Iran's energy sector is that the industry is important for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

All aspects of President Obama's Chicago-style tactics are on display as he cajoles, bullies, and bribes the House to pass his health care proposals despite the overwhelming public rejection with which they have been met.
To some, he offers bribes. Congressman Jim Matheson, endangered species - a Utah Democrat - succeeded in getting his brother Scott appointed to a federal judgeship. Matheson voted against Obamacare when it first passed the House. With his new-found winnings in his pocket, he now professes to be undecided. He faces a clear conflict between his district and his conscience on the one hand and the bribe to his brother on the other. The conscience will probably lose.
Matheson supports his party 91% of the time according to the Washington Post even though McCain got 58% of the vote in his district in 2008. But Matheson got re-elected - by professing independence from the Democratic Party's liberal line - with 63% of the vote, so he probably figures he can sneak in a vote for health care and still con his district into re-electing him. After all, he's not heavy. He's my brother.
Even as Matheson basks in the glow of presidential bribery, Eric Massa, a renegade Democrat from the Southern Tier of New York State faces his wrath. Massa's sin was to vote against Obamacare. So Pelosi and the ethically-challenged House Ethics Committee are investigating him for "verbally abusing" a male member of his staff. In this age of more serious offenses, using "salty language" to express his displeasure with staff work would not seem to rank high on the list of indictable offenses. If it were, Lyndon Johnson would have been impeached. But Massa is being hung out to dry as an example to other would-be independent minded Democrats. The attacks on him have gotten so bad that Massa has announced his retirement after only one term in office.
But there is a reward waiting for House members who ignore the wishes and interests of their constituents and vote for Obama's health care proposals. Alan Mollohan has had a pesky FBI investigation hanging over his head for a few years. Now, presto, right before the health care vote, it went away. The Justice Department, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder, announced that the FBI was closing the inquiry.
Mollohan's sin? He pushed for earmarks for nonprofit enterprises in his district and then went into a real estate deal in Florida with the head of the company under financial terms that were distinctly favorable to the Congressman. But Mollohan toes the party line and is now getting his unjust reward.
With health care reform coming up for a vote in the next few days, such tactics send a message to the House where Pelosi is having trouble lining up her votes: That Obama will do anything - anything at all - to pass this bill.
For those of us without judgeships or the FBI at our disposal, we can only call and write the swing Congressmen (go to DickMorris.com for a list and their phone numbers) or donate to the League of American Voters to step up its fierce media offensive in their districts to urge them to vote no.

The top U.S. diplomat in Pakistan says the U.S. is gathering information with Pakistan and other governments to identify and locate people holding U.S. passports who are receiving terrorist training then legally returning to commit violent acts.
LOS ANGELES - The top U.S. diplomat in Pakistan said Friday that the Obama administration does not know how many Americans might have disappeared overseas to train with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, but the number is not thought to be large.
Speaking to the Pacific Council on International Policy in Los Angeles, Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson outlined a "nightmare scenario" in which people holding U.S. passports receive terrorist training then return legally to the U.S. to commit violent acts.
"They can easily infiltrate back into the United States and, frankly, we don't know what to do about them," Patterson said. "We think there are more out there than we know about."
"We just have to keep working at it," she said.
Patterson said the U.S. is gathering information with Pakistan and other governments to identify and locate such people.
"It's not very many. But it's hard to get a precise number," Patterson said.
Earlier this month, prosecutors in Pakistan seeking to indict five Americans on terrorist charges submitted their case to a judge, accusing the men from the Washington, D.C., area of waging war against Pakistan and plotting to attack the country.
The men were arrested in December in Punjab province not long after reaching Pakistan. They were reported missing by their families in November after one left behind a farewell video showing scenes of war and casualties and saying Muslims must be defended.
A U.S. Senate report earlier this year said authorities believe as many as three dozen Americans who converted to Islam in prison have traveled to Yemen, possibly to train with Al Qaeda. Some vanished for weeks at a time but still hold their U.S. passports.

TORONTO, Canada — Near the end of the Winter Olympics, the premier of the small province of Newfoundland made a much-anticipated appearance at the Vancouver Games.
Danny Williams arrived straight from Florida, where he had gone in early February for heart surgery. It was his first public appearance since igniting a national debate about the quality of Canada’s health care by opting for surgery south of the border. He looked healthy and tanned.
“If I collapse up here, please drag me to Seattle, because the Canadian Medical Association won’t have anything to do with me,” he reportedly joked after taking the podium at a reception in honor of his province.
For many Canadians, Williams' decision to have surgery in the United States was no laughing matter. Williams has long been a staunch defender of Canada’s non-profit, government-insured health care, which covers all residents. But when it came to his own health, he went south of the border, where private care rules.
He might as well have publicly rooted for the U.S. to win hockey gold.

Obama demands historic health care vote quickly, bypassing Republicans if they won't go along
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The end game at hand, President Barack Obama took command Wednesday of one final attempt by Democrats to enact bitterly contested health care legislation, calling for an "up or down vote" within weeks under rules denying Republicans the ability to kill the bill with mere talk.
Appearing before a White House audience of invited guests, many of them wearing white medical coats, Obama firmly rejected calls from Republicans to draft new legislation from scratch. "I don't see how another year of negotiations would help. Moreover, the insurance companies aren't starting over," the president said, referring to a recent round of announced premium increases affecting millions who purchase individual coverage.
While Obama said he wanted action within a few weeks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., seemed to hint a final outcome could take far longer. "We remain committed to this effort and we'll use every option available to deliver meaningful reform this year," he said.

The gloves are off. The health care battle on Capitol Hill has now become a power grab of unbelievable proportions.
Concern level is rising - as it should. Americans won't be fooled by President Obama's "new" abortion-packed health care plan ... or accede to backroom schemes by House and Senate Democrats to thwart the legislative process.
Make no mistake, the Obama Administration and Congressional leaders are doing everything they can, using any means possible, to throw a disastrous health care program your way ... a bill that allows massive federal funding of abortion.
But the facts are clear: The plan put forth by President Obama embraces much of what the Senate-approved, citizen-rejected, health care plan does - including abortion funding.
Actually, the Obama Plan significantly INCREASES federal funding for abortion - from $7 billion to a monstrous $11 billion.
But there are troubling reports that Congressional leaders have vowed to utilize this one-sided, partisan-controlled legislative maneuver to get the votes they so desperately need.
Enough is enough. With the focus on today's so-called "health care summit," we must take immediate action -
It's time to give the American people what they want and deserve: A health care plan that's effective, affordable, and PROTECTS LIFE!
Thank you for understanding the urgency of this situation and for giving generously. God bless you for your support!
Don Price, longtime senior advisor to Benny Hinn Ministries, confirms reports in the news that Suzanne Hinn, wife of Pastor Benny Hinn, filed a petition for divorce in Orange County Superior Court on February 1, citing irreconcilable differences.
Price says, "Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news on February 17 without any previous notice. The couple has been married for more than 30 years, and although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice."
Mr. Price adds, "Both Pastor Hinn and the board of directors of the church ask for the prayers of ministry partners and friends as the Hinn family walks through this difficult season. Pastor Hinn also wants everyone to know that he remains firmly and unquestionably committed to God's calling—as he continues in his thirty-sixth year of ministry—to take the life-saving and miracle-working Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations through crusades, broadcasts, and mission outreaches."

WASHINGTON – Attorney General Eric Holder is leaving open the possibility of trying professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed before a military commission instead of the civilian trial originally planned for New York City.
"At the end of the day, wherever this case is tried, in whatever forum, what we have to ensure is that it's done as transparently as possible and with adherence to all the rules," Holder told The Washington Post in an interview published in Friday's editions. "If we do that, I'm not sure the location or even the forum is as important as what the world sees in that proceeding."

- FOXNews.com
A new Web site targeting the tea parties is a part of a complex network of money flowing from the mountainous coffers of the country's biggest labor unions and trickling slowly into political slush funds for Democratic activists.
Varoga and Rakis keep a central mailing address in Washington, pulling in soft money contributions from unions and other well-padded sources to engage in what amounts to a legal laundering system. The money -- tens of millions of dollars -- gets circulated around to different states by the 527s, which pay for TV ads, Internet campaigns and lobbyist salaries, all while keeping the hands of the unions clean -- for the most part.
The system helps hide the true sources of funding, giving the appearance of locally bred opposition in states from Oklahoma to New Jersey, or in the case of the Tea Party Web site, in Illinois.
And this whitewash is entirely legal, say election law experts, who told FoxNews.com that this arrangement more or less the norm in Washington.
"It's not illegal but it is, I think, dishonest on the part of the organizations," said Paul Ryan, a legal counsel at the Campaign Legal Center. "And there's a reason they do it: they know voters don't like outsiders coming in to sway the vote."
Calls and e-mails to the Maryland-based consultant firm Independent Strategies, run by Varoga and Rakis, were not returned.
Outside of that firm, the center of their activity appears to be a single office in Southeast D.C. -- 300 M Street, Suite 1102 -- which plays host to a sprawling political shell game they have established.
Public records show at least seven political shops listed in Suite 1102, most of which are essentially clones of one another, but all of which have offered money -- from measly thousands to game-changing millions -- in state-level elections across the country:
-The American Public Policy Committee Donations | IRS forms
-Patriot Majority Donations | IRS forms
-Citizens for Progress Donations | IRS forms
-Oklahoma Freedom Fund Donations | IRS forms
-Mid Atlantic Leadership Fund Donations | IRS forms
-Public Security Now Donations | IRS forms
-Pioneer Majority Donations | IRS forms
-Bluegrass Freedom Fund Donations | IRS forms
The APPC, which developed the anti-tea party ads, has gotten all of its money for 2010 from Patriot Majority and from Citizens for Progress, which is also called Patriot Majority West.
Patriot Majority West sent them $25,000 in January, and Patriot Majority added another $5,000. The groups, both run by Varoga and Rakis, also swap hundreds of thousands of dollars between themselves, money often buttressed by gifts from Patriot Majority Midwest, seen above as the Oklahoma Freedom Fund.
The confusing naming system is intentional, say election law experts, who generally disapprove of the practice.
"I do take issue with and have long complained about groups that shield particular special interests with innocuous-sounding names like ... 'Americans for America,'" said Ryan. "That type of naming of an organization, I believe, is specifically intended to obscure the true sources of funding of special interest groups behind political activity."
These three Patriot Majority groups also send checks to Independent Strategies, the strategy firm run by Varoga and Rakis. And some of the 527s have sent money to VR Strategies, another firm run in part by and named after Varoga.
The most recent backers of the Patriot Majority and Patriot Majority West, which helped fund the APPC and thus the Tea Party site, form a veritable Who's Who of the country's top labor unions: the Service Employees International Union, Change to Win, the Communications Workers of America, the National Education Association, the Teamsters Union, the United Food & Commercial Workers Union and others besides.
But by far the largest donations have come from a collection of unionized government workers, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) -- which in 2008 alone donated $5.8 million to Patriot Majority and another $4.1 million to Patriot Majority Midwest.
Using this arrangement, Varoga and Rakis are managing what NPR called a "never-ending pot of union money" that they dispense among the 527s they run, which in turn pay for ads in hotly contested election districts.
That means that taxpayer dollars, sent up as union dues, have been going to fund a host of Democratic causes and help quash the tea party movement.
What's more, Varoga and Rakis are not actually present in Suite 1102. That is the office of their lawyer, Joseph Sandler, a longtime general counsel to the Democratic National Committee.
Sandler, whose firm and trust account raked in over $500,000 in Democratic party money in 2009 alone, told Fox News that there was nothing irregular in their setup.
"That's common practice," said Sandler, a renowned expert on election law who served as general counsel to the Democratic National Committee until February 2009, and whose firm, Sandler Reiff & Young, continues to work for both the Democratic party and numerous left-wing 527 groups.
Sandler noted that political committees and groups are often run by multiple people and don't have a central office, but need a place where they can be in ongoing contact with the IRS and other federal agencies that track election funds.
"It's very common for a law firm to give their address ... as the official address for the organization where correspondence can be received," he said.
It has the effect of confusing the ultimate sources of election funding, but also serves an important practical end, say election law experts.
"As a practical matter there's not a huge universe of lawyers in the United States that know political law all that well and most of them are here in D.C., said Ryan, of the Campaign Legal Center. "It's not uncommon for political organizations to be using lawyers in D.C. or starters, even if they're all over the country."
It is not clear whether TheTeaPartyIsOver.org is the start of a larger campaign run by Varoga and Rakis to target tea party activists. Additional attempts to reach Varoga at a California number were unsuccessful. A staffer answering the phone in Varoga's Oakland office last week told FoxNews.com that he was unavailable for comment and hung up.
A seemingly grassroots organization that's mounted an online campaign to counter the tea party movement is actually the front end of an elaborate scheme that funnels funds -- including sizable labor union contributions -- through the offices of a prominent Democratic party lawyer.
A Web site popped up in January dedicated to preventing the tea party's "radical" and "dangerous" ideas from "gaining legislative traction," targeting GOP candidates in Illinois for the firing squad.
"This movement is a fad," proclaims TheTeaPartyIsOver.org, which was established by the American Public Policy Center (APPC), a D.C.-based campaign shop that few people have ever heard of.
But a close look reveals the APPC's place in a complex network of money flowing from the mountainous coffers of the country's biggest labor unions into political slush funds for Democratic activists.
Here's how it works: What appears like a local groundswell is in fact the creation of two men -- Craig Varoga and George Rakis, Democratic Party strategists who have set up a number of so-called 527 groups, the non-profit election organizations that hammer on contentious issues (think Swift Boats, for example).
In exchange for decades of entitlement programs and government spending, the people of Detroit have been rewarded with record high unemployment, failing schools, very little economic activity and a blighted landscape. Steven Crowder reports from the Motor City.
A free calendar given out in Publix supermarkets has outraged South Florida residents. The calendar designated Dec. 7 as “Islamic New Year” instead of commemorating the Pearl Harbor attack on that date.
The calendar also includes Venezuelan and Cuban independence days and “Haitian Flag Day,” but omits Patriot Day commemorating the 9/11 attacks, Palm Beach Post columnist Jose Lambiet disclosed.
Local radio host Jeff Katz told Lambiet that his studio’s phone lines lit up when he and a fellow host broke the story on Wednesday.
“Listeners went nuts,” Katz said.
“Some of them were waiting for an hour to have their say. Some marketing genius at Publix decided to be politically correct and include South American dates for their South American customers.
“But most people are outraged by what Publix forgot. If you’re going to be that way, then how about including Israel’s day? They forgot that, too, despite the Jewish population here.”
Publix spokeswoman Kimberly Jaeger told Lambiet that the calendar noted only “holidays” and not “days of remembrance,” but said the supermarket chain will add Pearl Harbor to next year’s calendar.

Columbia, Rutgers on Iran-Controlled Foundation's Gift List
Anti-Israel, pro-Iran university professors are being funded by a shadowy multimillion-dollar Islamic charity that the feds charge is an illegal front for the repressive Iranian regime. The Alavi Foundation has given away hundreds of thousands of dollars to Columbia University and Rutgers University for Middle Eastern and Persian studies programs that employ professors sympathetic to the Iranian dictatorship. "We found evidence that the government of Iran really controlled everything about the foundation," said Adam Kaufmann, investigations chief at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Federal law-enforcement authorities are in the midst of seizing up to $650 million in assets from the Alavi Foundation, which they charge funnels money to Iran-supported Islamic schools in the U.S. and to a syndicate of Iranian spies based in Europe. The foundation donated $100,000 to Columbia University after the school agreed to host Iranian leader and Holocaust denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to the foundation's 2007 tax filings. Bill Whittle explains why the Guantanamo Bay detainees do not deserve the treatment afforded prisoners of war.
The ACLJ is an organization dedicated to the defense of constitutional liberties secured by law.
There's been a major development in the War on Terror. We're making history ... bad history.
This is according to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) - and I couldn't agree more.
Stand with the ACLJ and Senator Graham to keep the terrorists OUT of civilian courts.
Add your name now to our nationwide PETITION TO KEEP TERRORISTS OUT OF CIVILIAN COURTS!
Rarely does one decision carry as many national security ramifications as the recent decision by President Obama's Department of Justice (DOJ) to give the terrorist mastermind of the 9/11 attacks full due process rights and access to our domestic criminal courts.
It's absolutely incomprehensible. By choosing to prosecute Khalid Sheikh Mohammed under civilian law rather than in a military commission, the DOJ has committed a number of blunders that jeopardize national and local security.
Fortunately, Sen. Graham has raised his voice in clear opposition to this crucial misstep by the Obama Administration and Attorney General Eric Holder.
He is introducing legislation in the United States Senate that will prohibit the trials from being moved out of military commissions. The ACLJ is working vigorously to assist Sen. Graham in this effort.
Make no mistake, it is a sad day in U.S. history when terrorists are given the right to have their war crime cases tried in civilian courts ... on U.S. soil.
This dangerous move undermines the war on terror. The terrorists who attacked American citizens on American soil are now going to receive the same rights as American civilians ... rights afforded us under the U.S. Constitution.
Never in American history have we granted an enemy of the state a civilian trial and given them the platform of a civilian court.
Please immediately sign our PETITION TO KEEP TERRORISTS OUT OF CIVILIAN COURTS!
NO TERROR TRIALS IN CIVILIAN COURTS!
U.S. Government approved plot to pump poison into every home in the country

Nov. 12: The Islamic Education Center, a grade school and mosque in Houston, is among properties to be seized in federal terrorism investigation.
NEW YORK — Federal prosecutors took steps Thursday to seize four U.S. mosques and a Fifth Avenue skyscraper owned by a nonprofit Muslim organization long suspected of being secretly controlled by the Iranian government.
In what could prove to be one of the biggest counterterrorism seizures in U.S. history, prosecutors filed a civil complaint in federal court against the Alavi Foundation, seeking the forfeiture of more than $500 million in assets.
The assets include bank accounts; Islamic centers consisting of schools and mosques in New York City, Maryland, California and Houston; more than 100 acres in Virginia; and a 36-story glass office tower in New York.
Confiscating the properties would be a sharp blow against Iran, which has been accused by the U.S. government of bankrolling terrorism and trying to build a nuclear bomb.
A telephone call and e-mail to Iran's U.N. Mission seeking comment were not immediately answered. Nor was a call to the Alavi Foundation.

Imams preach jihad and extremism in 10 percent of the 2,000 mosques in the United States, the FBI estimates.
That sums up the problem facing us as we ponder the meaning of Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s slayings of 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas. Given his association with a pro-al-Qaida imam in northern Virginia and his preoccupation with radical Islamic Web sites, it’s clear that the radical element of Islam influenced Hasan.
On the other hand, those who condemn Muslims in general because of the actions of Hasan and others like him are engaging in prejudice that has no place in America. Indeed, such stereotyping sets back the war on terror, because we need moderate Muslims on our side.
The problem is not the Quran, which is no more incendiary than some passages in the Bible. (Deuteronomy, for example, prescribes stoning to death for those who “served other gods and worshipped them.”) The problem is the radical element that uses the Quran as an excuse to engage in terrorism and the failure of many moderate Muslims to condemn the extremists.

Flag Desecration a Finalist in Obama Website Contest? (Video Inside)
As hard as it is to believe, a video of the American flag being desecrated is a finalist in a video contest being held by President Obama's campaign organization (Organizing for America at www.barackobama.com). By the way, this is the same site that previously compared conservatives to "domestic terrorists".

Speaking out against Islam could put YOU in jeopardy.
Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.
The United Nations (U.N.) is currently considering a ''Defamation of Religions'' resolution being pushed by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the largest group of nations within the U.N.

The resolution would criminalize the proclamation of the Gospel worldwide - an issue with such international ramifications, we've responded with force.
We're sending legal teams to our New York City office, which is just down the street from the U.N., in order to speak out - and loudly - against this very anti-Christian move.

One third of them don't have boots. Their rag-wrapped feet literally leave a trail of blood in the Pennsylvania snow.
But on their shoulders literally rests the fate of the Revolution and the Republic.
Their password - "victory or death" - is not symbolism. It is their reality.
And they have a message for those of us living today:
The next time someone tells you we can't turn America around;
The next time someone tells you we can't overcome the challenges we face unless we create a "new" America and a new kind of American --
Tell them to read the story of George Washington and his men.
On Monday night at Mount Vernon 's fantastic new Education Center, historian William Forstchen and I launched our new novel, To Try Men's Souls: A Novel of George Washington and the Fight for American Freedom . (You can watch video from the event at the book's website.)
To Try Men's Souls is the wrenching, first person account of General George Washington's 1776 sneak attack on Trenton after crossing the Delaware River . This tale of heroism and sacrifice is told through the eyes and private thoughts of General Washington, writer Thomas Paine, and Jonathan Van Dorn, a young private in the struggling colonial army.
It takes its title from Thomas Paine's famous work, The Crisis, which opens with a phrase that captures perfectly the heroism and endurance displayed by Washington and his men: "These are the times that try men's souls..."
To Try Men's Souls is a story of the miracles that can be achieved by a free people with courage and a willingness to endure.
It is also a riveting story of men versus the elements.
As Washington and his men march, a storm bears down on them, turning frozen earth to mud. Through the eyes of a young soldier, To Try Men's Souls describes the unimaginable conditions these American heroes faced:
"Raise your foot, put it ahead of you, heavy mud caked thick to each boot. Put your foot forward, sink into the congealing glue nearly to the boot top, sometimes the chilled slop spilling down inside. Pull your other foot up out of the slop, stagger forward another step. There was no longer any semblance of a marching column, just an endless weaving line of men ahead, the last few stragglers of this broken army. Take a step, move forward another two feet, curl your toes inside your boot to hold tight to it so it isn't sucked off. Take another step."
But the storm that creates such hellish conditions for the American rebels is the same storm that General Washington calls "our Christmas miracle."
To Try Men's Souls tells how, because of the bad weather, the British-paid German mercenaries that were Washington 's target in Trenton stayed in that night. Even though the weather caused the Americans to arrive four hours late - well after dawn - when they got to Trenton , the Hessians were asleep in their beds.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, Washington and his men won the battle of Trenton . Their victory reinvigorated the cause of American freedom.
Washington 's "Christmas miracle" was the turning point in the Revolutionary War and the birth of America .
American author and award-winning journalist Dr. Paul L. Williams is being hauled into a Canadian court over allegations he made about al-Qaida terrorists at an Ontario university.
Williams is being sued by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, over his claims that Islamic terrorists stole 180 pounds of nuclear material from the school's nuclear reactor.
The suit stems from comments Williams made during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Coast to Coast AM," which also airs in several Canadian cities, and remarks made in his book, "Dunces of Doomsday."
Williams, who has a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree, "broke no American statute and his alleged violation of Canadian law took place not in Canada, but at his home in Pennsylvania," according to a press release from Tracy Hood, director of No Compromise News, which is chronicling Williams' case. The release outlined Williams' predicament
"The case is significant since it represents the first time an American journalist is being forced to submit to Canadian law.
"Williams has been stripped of his Constitutional rights and forced to deplete his financial savings to pay for his Canadian lawyers.
"'The matter would have gone away if I simply signed an apology,' Williams said, 'but what kind of journalist would I be if I apologized for telling the truth?'
"Williams visited McMaster University in May, 2006 to verify accounts by Janice Kephardt of the 9/11 Commission, journalists Bill Gertz and Scott Wheeler of The Washington Times, former federal prosecutor John Loftus, and others, that the liberal Canadian university had harbored leading al-Qaida operatives, including Adnan el-Shukrijumah, Jaber A. Elbaneh, Abderraouf Jdey, and Amer el-Maati.
"The same sources testified that when the al-Qaida operatives left McMaster, over 80 kilograms (180 pounds) of nuclear material was reported missing.
"During his visit to McMaster, Williams says that he discovered an over-abundance of professors from terror-sponsoring countries within the university’s department of engineering.
"In the Division of Earthquake Engineering, he says, 9 out of 10 faculty members were from the [Egyptian] Universities of Cairo and Alexandria. Similarly, Williams maintains the three McMaster officials who head the College of Engineering and supervise the work at the reactor all hailed from the University of Cairo.
"Jane Corbin of the BBC has reported that the engineering department at the University of Cairo remains under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood.
"Williams says that he and several of his associates, including a licensed private investigator, met with officials from the Ontario Provincial Police, who confirmed that McMaster has been under scrutiny for a long time; that many of the students have ties to radical Islam and terrorist organizations; and that Islamic members of the faculty have conducted clandestine meetings at an off-campus address in Hamilton . . .
"Supporting Williams’ contentions, Hamid Mir, the only journalist to interview Osama bin Laden in the wake of 9/11, has testified on tape that Anas el-Liby, a founder of al-Qaida, attended McMaster and managed, along with other al-Qaida operatives, to steal 80 kilos of nuclear material from the poorly guarded facilities at the school."
According to the press release, Peter Downward, the attorney representing the University, said: "We regard Mr. Williams' allegations about McMaster as being on a par with UFO reports and JFK conspiracy theories. The notion that because there are people on faculty from Egypt that McMaster is then a haven for terrorism is not only logically offensive, it smacks of racism.”
The press release continues: "However, the predominance of Muslims from terror-sponsoring countries at McMaster and the lack of security at the reactor has been verified by independent sources, including Sean Michaels of GlobalTV-CA.
"Moreover, Ontario police officials have labeled the campus 'a hive of jihadi activity.'
"In Canada, any person offended by a statement can file a lawsuit, and it remains up to the respondent to prove his innocence."
| And the process will be administered by the IMF, whose counsel to less developed nations over the past two decades has consistently called for social pain and economic austerity. The IMF's misguided policies have been responsible for more revolutions than Marx, Engels and Lenin combined. Its bureaucrats' arrogance is legendary and their search for appropriate punishments to fit the crime of spending too much on the poor smacks of colonialism and imperialism. They are our new overseers. This combination of the IMF and the G-20 will not only work to structure national economic policies but to limit executive compensation at financial institutions. The watchful, wise leaders of such nations as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia -- among others -- will monitor Wall Street to assure themselves that its compensation is not out of line. One particularly looks forward to the views of the Saudi monarchy on this question of excessive personal enrichment. |
Perhaps as part of his public spasm of apology, President Obama also strove, successfully, to increase the voting strength of the debtor nations on the IMF from the current 43 percent to 48 percent. This is the economic equivalent of giving deadbeat debtors more votes on their bank's governing board of directors.
Thus, the world's most successful economy -- ours -- which is the only one that has produced reliable economic growth for three decades and has lifted real personal incomes almost every year, is going to subject itself to the burden of justifying its own economic policies in front of a global community of 20 nations, some of which do not even embrace free-market economies in the first place. Indeed, it is only through access to our markets that nations have been able to escape poverty. Japan, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, China and India have sequentially trod this path into prosperity.
Obviously, we live in a global economy. But the United States is 24 percent of it. We are entitled to more than one-twentieth of a voice, and it is the world that should be following our policies -- not the other way around.
Much of the damage of the Obama administration can be undone at the next election. But such grants of sovereignty to autocratic, backward, bureaucratic and even communist nations will be hard to undo. The world is recovering from its leftist obsession -- e.g., the Merkel victory in Germany. But by the time the voters discover how phony, failed and fraudulent these policies are, we may have given it all away already. Irrevocably.

I will not stand by and watch your freedom as an American handed over to courts in other countries.
I refuse to remain silent while the sovereignty of the United States and Israel is forfeited to international courts.
It's bad enough when some Justices of our own Supreme Court use ''international law'' to help decide our own U.S. cases. But when the United States cedes its sovereignty ... that's a disaster.
This is no exaggeration: It's well on its way to actually happening.

We have no choice but to act. The United Nations (U.N.) and the international community are closing in. There's a mad scramble to erase the boundaries between countries - to turn the people of free nations like the U.S. and Israel over to the whims of radicals around the world.
The latest example is an outrageous attack by the Palestinian Authority - not even an actual nation - calling for Israeli soldiers (some who hold dual U.S. citizenship) to be convicted of ''war crimes'' ...
... simply for fulfilling their duty, defending their countrymen against attacks by the Hamas terrorists!
And now we're hearing reports that the Obama Administration will have the U.S. join the International Criminal Court (ICC)!
We just opened a full-time legal ''command center'' in New York, just blocks from the U.N. - so the ACLJ is right in the center of this fight.
We have already assembled a team of lawyers, including two newly added lawyers in New York and others in Washington, D.C. In fact, former U.S. Attorney General, John Ashcroft, is working with us on these issues. In addition:
