Grant Jeffrey - The Difference Between The Rapture And The Second Coming

(1/3) Grant Jeffrey - The Rapture

On May 11th 2012 Prophecy teacher Grant Jeffrey has gone home to be with the Lord. Jeffrey suffered a seizure on Friday and was hospitalized. He was in critical condition until he passed on Saturday. Jeffrey was one of the leading teachers on Bible prophecy and an intelligent defense of our Christian faith. He was the chairman of Frontier Research Publications, Inc. Grant's 27 best-selling books sold more than 7 million copies during the last 20 years. Bantam, Harper Collins, Zondervan, Word and Tyndale, among others, have printed his books in 24 languages. Titles include Armageddon, Prince of Darkness, Final Warning, Signature of God, Finding Financial Freedom and The War on Terror. For the last four years, Jeffrey's TV program Bible Prophecy Revealed was broadcast twice weekly in more than 80 nations on Trinity Broadcasting Network. He also appeared frequently as a guest on TV and radio stations internationally. During the last two decades he was the main speaker in hundreds of prophecy conferences around the world. A passion for research led Jeffrey to acquire a personal library of more than 7,000 books on prophecy, theology and biblical archeology. He earned a Master's degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in biblical studies from Louisiana Baptist University. He was the editor of the Jeffrey Prophecy Study Bible. This 2.5 year writing project was his doctoral dissertation. During the 1970s and 1980s, Jeffrey taught eschatology part-time at several colleges. His dozens of research trips to the Middle East and extensive interviews with experts in the military and intelligence field, including political leaders such as Benjamin Netanyahu and Shimon Peres, offered the background to the insights found in The New Temple and the Second Coming and Countdown To The Apocalypse. Jeffrey was a professional in the financial planning and insurance brokerage field for 18 years. While pursuing his business career he acquired a Chartered Life Underwriter degree (law, pensions, accounting) from the University of Toronto extension program. Jeffrey's prophetic novel By Dawn's Early Light, written with co-author Angela Hunt, received the respected Christy Award for the Best Prophetic Fiction novel of 1999.

In The Twinkling Of An Eye We Will Be Changed

Our Final Victory

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

THE RAPTURE

THE COMING OF THE LORD

The Coming of the Son of Man

25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The Parable of the Fig Tree

29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
The Importance of Watching

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy[a] to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Luke 21:25-36

ARE YOU WISE OR FOOLISH- MATTHEW 25

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Light of His Imminent Coming

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. (1 John 2:28)

Why has He not revealed to us the time of His coming? “That, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.” A Christian ought to live in the light of the imminent coming of Christ. If you tell me today that He is not coming for another ten years, then I do not need to worry about today, and I can be a little careless in my living. But if He might come today, if He came right at this moment, He would catch me preparing this Bible study and that would be fine. I hope He will come at a time like that, but I don’t know when He will come. There are times when I get behind a driver who won’t let me around to pass him, and I tell him what I think of him. If the Lord were to come at that moment, I might be ashamed at His appearance. So you and I need to be living all the time in the light of His imminent return.

A great many people are talking about the coming of Christ, and they get very excited about it; but it certainly is going to be embarrassing for them because they will not have any confidence and they are going to be ashamed before Him at His coming. Why? Because of their lives. The Lord Jesus says, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation 22:12). Many people will look around for their reward, and they will find that they haven’t got any. Paul wrote, “If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire” (1 Corinthians 3:15). It is very important to have a life that commends the gospel.

False doctrine and false living go together; true doctrine and true living go together. Every now and then you hear of a cult leader who is in trouble because he is guilty either of adultery, or of taking money which doesn’t belong to him, or of beating some person out of money. Why? False doctrine leads to false living. True doctrine leads to true living. There is nothing that will affect your life as much as the knowledge that you are going to stand in the presence of Christ and give an account of your works. Every believer will stand before the judgment seat of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:10). The issue of salvation has already been settled because we are His children and in His presence. It is not a question of whether you are saved or lost; it is a question of whether or not you are going to get any reward or recognition. There will be some folk who will not get any recognition. The Rapture is not going to be such a thrilling event for a great many believers because of the lives they lived down here.

If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. (v. 29)

The Word of God is the real test. In effect John is saying that God’s children look like the Father – they take after their Father. If they don’t take after the Father, they must not be the Father’s children. It is just as simple as that, my friend.

THE FAITHFUL CHURCH, LAST DAY BELIEVERS

REVELATION 3

To the Church in Philadelphia

7"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
8I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. 11I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

REVELATION 3:10

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

THE LORD HAS NOT APPOINTED US (BELIEVERS) TO THE WRATH TO COME

1 thessalonians-Chapter 5

But of the times and the seasons, breathren, you have no need that I write to you.

For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction will come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep, as  others; but let us watch and be sober.

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

For Lord hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another.

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all people.

See that none render evil for evil unto any person; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all people.

Rejoice evermore.

Pray without ceasing.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Quench not the Spirit.

Despise not prophesyings.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

And the very Lord of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray to the Lord your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Faithful is He that calls you, who also will do it.

Brethren, pray for us.

Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

What to Do if You Miss the Rapture

"For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them who are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

Amazing words from the Word of God. But what do they mean? This passage foretells an amazing event we have come to call the Rapture of the Church. It is the time when God will take all living, believing Christians out of the Earth instantaneously:

"Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we all shall be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye..." 1 Corinthians 15:51

When will this amazing event take place? It will take place at the onset of a terrible 7-year period of time the Bible calls the Tribulation. During those gruesome days, over half the population of the world will die amidst wars, natural catastrophes, plagues, as the result of economic manipulation, and especially at the nefarious hand of an evil world ruler known in the Bible as the Antichrist.

Are we close to that event even now? Well, if you are a Christian, the answer is "Happily, yes!" The Bible is full of signs that indicate the approach of the Tribulation. Globalism, a united Europe, interlaced economies and mounting technology all point to the nearness of that time.

However if you are not a Christian, the answer for you is "Sadly, yes!" Sadly, because if you do not move quickly and come to believe in Jesus as Savior before the Rapture, you will be left behind after the Rapture to take your chances with the Antichrist and the world of his oppression. Your chances of survival will be less that 50/50, and most of those who will survive will be forced to join the new Satanic world economic system. But beware, the Bible says that joining that economic system (called the Mark of the Beast) will involve aligning yourself with the Antichrist, which will erase any chance you have to come to salvation.

But there is hope! Now, before the Rapture, you can believe on Jesus and become a Child of God. And even after the Rapture, you will have an opportunity to become a Tribulation Saint, enduring plagues and persecution, and probably being beheaded for the testimony of Christ.

The Future & You!

Everyone wants to know about the future!

But did you know that in a very real way, there are two divergent futures? One is the fate that lies ahead of a world that continues to reject Jesus Christ as Savior. The other is a marvelous destiny that belongs to all who have come to Christ in faith believing.

You and you alone will determine which future will be yours!

Many have complained that Bible Prophecy is a message of "Doom and Gloom," but that is not necessarily the case. Bible Prophecy is simply future history written in advance! Because of that, we recognize it to be the compassionate message of a loving God. It is designed to produce faith in your heart, prompting you to make decisions in your life that will secure a wonderful future for you - both in this life and in the eternities to come.

The fate of the world will be to move into an era of globalism, culminating in a world government, a world religion, and a world economic system. Sadly, that new world order will eventually be led by an evil person that the Bible calls the Antichrist. During his 7 year quest for world domination, over half the people in the world will die!

Admittedly, that message is one of "Doom and Gloom!" But the Good News is that you don't have to be a part of that future. By believing in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you become a member of a marvelous entity that is called "the church, which is His body." When you make that decision, you are instantly and eternally saved. You become a creature of destiny!

As a Child of God, you will be spared from the wrath to come by a glorious event that is called "The Rapture of the Church!" You become a joint-heir with Christ, sharing with Him a marvelous inheritance that includes not only this Earth, but the vast reaches of the universe.

There are two futures ahead. Which one will be yours?

If you haven't yet believed on Jesus Christ as Savior, why not do it now?

Today would be a wonderful day to begin the rest of eternity as a victorious Child of God.

Make that decision today. We pray that you will!
