"When you speak from your heart and say the words your soul has only dared whisper that's when miracles happen"

One of my sons serves  in the military. He is still stateside, here in  California  . He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight for not only our own freedoms,   but so that others may have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha!

He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the  U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, 'Yes, I always wear it and probably always will.'

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped   forward.   Putting his arm around my son's shoulders and nodding towards my son, he said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

'Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid. Everyone within hearing distance    cheered!

SOLDIER: Mowing Grass In Iraq---Priceless

Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (US soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so he can have the sweet aroma and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and American soil, to bring them good luck!
If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.

You don't have to send this on, but gee, who wouldn't?

This came from a Marine unit over in Iraq . Their wish is to send it to as many people in the country as possible.

Something to pay tribute

To our fallen comrades So since we are part of the only

Think of doing that is By taking a picture of

It would be awesome if you could find a way to share

This with our fellow countrymen.

I  was wondering if there was any way to
 Get this into your

 'WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN'
And are proud to serve our country.

ROCK THE RIVER 2009

On a sunny autumn afternoon, more than 2,000 soldiers, families and community members gathered at Fort Leonard Wood to hear some great music and, most importantly, some Great News.

Rock the Fort, an event modeled after this summer’s Rock the River concerts, brought hip hop artist Canton Jones, youth communicator Matt Pitt, Christian rock band Disciple and evangelist RV Brown to the Missouri military base on October 4.

By the end of the afternoon, more than 200 people made decisions for Christ; 123 accepted Him as their Savior for the first time.

“Rock the Fort is a great example of viral ministry,” says Duane Gaylord, vice president of television, film and internet for the BGEA. “There were soldiers, some as young as 17- or 18-years old, who heard about Jesus for the first time and made a decision right there. Within weeks, they could be shipped off to Afghanistan. These soldiers will now be equipped to face very stressful situations in a potentially dangerous environment."

J. Walker Clarke, director of program for the BGEA, explains the “heart” behind the event: “Boot camp is one of the most physically, emotionally, and spiritually vulnerable times of a soldier’s life. We wanted to do something for them that not only would be fun, but would also share the Gospel. This is a way to serve the young men and women who have put themselves out there and serve our country.”

Supreme Court Must Uphold Cross Display in Mojave Desert That HonorsWAR VETERANS

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 08, 2009

The Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States have heard oral arguments in the Salazar v. Buono case, a lawsuit in which the display of a Mojave Desert cross to honor war veterans is being challenged.

to Watch Video The plaintiffs claim that the cross is offensive, and that because of that ''offense'' they're entitled to sue in court.  The ACLJ fundamentally disagrees.  To create a constitutional crisis out of an eight-foot cross honoring veterans is wrong.

Take just two minutes to view my special video update from the Supreme Court steps!

The ACLJ filed a critical brief with the Court, representing 15 Members of Congress and tens of thousands of our members from across the country.

There is no question - religious symbols are constitutional.  In fact, the Supreme Court Justices ruled unanimously earlier this year in a similar case regarding display of the Ten Commandments.

Obama Administration Cuts $8 Billion From Our Troops

Dear Military Families United Member and Supporter,

As you may know, yesterday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates unveiled the budget proposal for our military.  While the plan has some positive attributes, such as a commitment to expanding our forces and money for military families and veterans, there are also significant cuts for critical weapons systems.  Those programs currently on the chopping block include:

  • $1.4 billion cut in missile defense spending
  • Reducing aircraft carriers from 11 to 10 and slowing production of other surface combatants
  • Delaying amphibious ship programs
  • Halting the planned increase of ground-based interceptors in Alaska
  • Cancelling a second airborne laser (antimissile) aircraft
  • Terminating the ground-vehicle element of the Army’s Future Combat Systems
  • Ending development of a new Air Force search and rescue helicopter
  • Canceling the development of the next generation strategic bomber
  • Ending the C-17 transport aircraft
  • Stopping production of the F-22 at 187 fighters
We at Military Families United have found several key problems with these defense cuts. America’s military is commonly blamed for fighting the last war, but this budget cuts back the future capabilities of the Armed Forces.  The capabilities added by the Army’s Future Combat System program and the Navy’s amphibious ships would help the United States in all types of conflicts, all around the world.  Cutting the fat in the defense budget is good, but Military Families United hopes that Congress will not cut the bone.

That thinking was what led to our troops having to buy their own armor to go into combat in Afghanistan and a lack of appropriate equipment to fighting the war in Iraq. While we must focus on the wars at hand, some of the cuts will affect what America’s servicemen and servicewomen can do in the future.

This budget will allow American capabilities to stagnate and our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardsmen to continue to use old and out of date equipment like the 1950’s era KC-135 aerial refueling tanker and B-52 bomber.   We are especially concerned about the $1.4 billion cut in missile defense spending, which equals 15 percent of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s budget. This drastic cut comes only one day after North Korea conducted what it called a “satellite test,” but what every other country called a test of their long range ballistic missile capabilities. North Korea already has nuclear weapons and they continue to be aggressive and antagonistic towards the community of nations (which includes the United States). The continuation of North Korean missile testing is very dangerous and by cutting the Missile Defense Agency’s funding America is left potentially unprepared for a missile attack.

Sec. Gates’ defense budget must now go to Congress before it can take effect. We need to take action now to protect our homeland and provide the funding that our troops need and deserve. We have produced a web ad about this topic and need your support.

Bipartisan Reaction

Lt. Gen. Edward Baca, who served as chief of the National Guard Bureau under former President Clinton said the missile defense cut “will leave us vulnerable to missile attacks from countries like North Korea in the near future.”

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn), Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) Sens. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and James Inhofe (R-Okla.) sent a letter to the president and voiced their concern about the missile defense cut saying, “Moreover, sharp cuts would leave us and our friends around the world less capable of responding to the growing ballistic missile threat.”

If I die before you wake...

Back home now I know you're probably sleepin'
Over here it's the middle of the day
I finally found the time to write a letter
Sittin' here a half a world away

I heard about all them folks protestin'
As if I really want this war
But that don't stop me from believin'
There's just some things worth fightin' for

 CHORUS
And if I die before you wake,
I pray the world will take
A good look at what God's given us
That we could only understand,
everything is in his hands
All we need is a little faith and trust
I want you to know it ain't too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake

Tell everybody that I miss them
And I can't wait to get back home
But until then I'll serve my country
And be proud to wear this uniform

 CHORUS
No it ain't too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake

PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS FAMILY'S

Daddy's Poem
Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied
with a bow  Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she
couldn't wait to go.

But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably
should stay home.  Why the kids might not understand,
if she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today.

But still her mother worried, for her to face this day
alone.  And that was why once again,  she tried to keep
her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees a dad who never calls.

There were dads along the wall in back, for everyone
to meet.  Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their
seats.   One by one the teacher called a student from the
class to introduce their daddy,  as seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name, every child turned
to stare.  Each of them was searching for a man who
wasn't there.

'Where's her daddy at?'  she heard a boy call out.
'She probably doesn't have one,' another student dared
to shout.

And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy
say, 'Looks like another deadbeat dad,  too busy to waste
his day.'

The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her
Mom, and looked back at her teacher,  who told her to
go on.   And with her hands behind her back, slowly she
began to speak.  And out from the mouth of a child,
came words incredibly unique.

'My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far
away.   But I know he wishes he could be, since this is
such a special day.

And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to
know all about my daddy, and how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories he taught me to ride my
bike.   He surprised me with pink roses,  and taught me
to fly a kite.

We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a
cone.  And though you cannot see him, I'm not standing
here alone.

'Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we
are apart I know because he told me,  he'll forever be in
my heart.'  With that, her little hand reached up, and lay
across her chest.  Feeling her own heartbeat,  beneath
her favorite dress.

And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her
mother stood in tears.  Proudly watching her daughter,
who was wise beyond her years.  For she stood up for
the love of a man not in her life  Doing what was best
for her, doing what was right.

And when she dropped her hand back down, staring
straight into the crowd, she finished with a voice so soft,
but its message clear and loud.

'I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,  but heaven's just too far.

You see he was a Marine and died just this past year,
when a roadside bomb hit his convoy and taught
Americans to fear.  But sometimes when I close my
eyes, it's like he never went away.'  And then
she closed her eyes,  and saw him there that day.

     And to her mother
s amazement, she witnessed
with surprise,  a room full of daddies and children,
all starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them, who
knows what they felt inside.  Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side.

'I know you're with me Daddy,' to the silence
she called out.  And what happened next made
believers, of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it, for each
of their eyes had been closed.  But there on the desk
beside her, was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.

And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the
love of her shining star.  And given the gift of believing,
that heaven is never too far.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person,
an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then
an entire life to forget them.

OUR MILITARY WOMEN ARE BRAVE

Female B-2 pilot makes history by Airman 1st Class Alice K. Moore 40th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (AFPN) -- Military women are continuing to knock down barriers and make history.

Capt. Jennifer Wilson, a B-2 Spirit pilot deployed with the 393rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, landed on the runway April 1 at her forward-deployed location, making her the first female B-2 pilot to fly a combat mission.

"Flying is great," Wilson said. "I can't imagine doing anything else right now, and to be able to have a chance to fly in combat with the B-2 was an awesome experience."

Formerly a B-1 Lancer pilot, Operation Iraqi Freedom was not the first time she flew a combat mission, Wilson said. She also flew for Operation Allied Force in Kosovo, the first time the B-1s were involved in combat.

The 30-year-old Miami native received her commission through the ROTC program at Georgia Technical Institute in June 1995. She attended undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.

CREATING THE BLESSING

Bring all the tithes, into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this, Says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven, And pour out for you such blessing, that there will not be room enough to receive it."  " And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field."  Says the Lord of hosts.
