The matter should have been referred for criminal charges. Instead, Rangel got a minor reprimand.

We are seeing Pelosi handle the Massa matter the same way.

Now that Massa has resigned, Pelosi says there will be no investigation.

This is only the tip of the sleaze-berg.

      The seemingly endless battle over ObamaCare appears

      Pelosi is downright peevish when asked about the
      abortion issue in ObamaCare. Could it be because

to have motivated his usual supporters.  Since his White
House address, organizations like MoveOn and Obama's own
Organizing for America are flooding Capitol Hill with

They call their campaign a "Virtual March on Washington."
We knew that the Left would not be passive when their
"Candidate in Chief" was announcing yet another crisis!

"public option" included in the final ObamaCare bill.

Thirty-three Senators have signed the "Bennet Letter" in
which Senators pledge to support ObamaCare WITH the
public option, using reconciliation.  If they reach 51
signers, the Democrats will have a clear path to pass
ObamaCare WITH the public option, the abortion mandate,
and a yet to be assessed trillion-dollar-plus cost!

In an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, former Senator Majority Leader Bill Frist wrote that using “reconciliation” to get Obamacare approved would be “an unprecedented, dangerous and historic mistake.”

Actually, Bill, I kind of hope they’ll go for it. I can’t imagine anything the Obamacrats could do that would stir up the opposition more than to cram this odious piece of legislation down our throats. You think the Tea Parties, town hall meetings and other gatherings have shown some spirited opposition? You ain’t seen nothin’ compared to what will happen if this happens. It’s going to take a lot more than a few hundred million in Cornhusker kickbacks to bully this bill through Congress. It’s going to take a few dozen acts of political suicide.

We’ve already seen the first sign that the deal is breaking down. Both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are insisting that the other one be the first to bring the bill up for a vote. Watching them toss this hot potato back and forth would be amusing, if the situation weren’t so serious. (Actually, it’s pretty amusing even so.)

I’m sure many of you are getting all sorts of anxious emails from all of sorts of conservative groups, organizations and coalitions urging you to “write your Senators” and “call your Congressman.” Far be it from me to dissuade you—even though you can be certain they already know their constituents don’t like this sleazy effort to socialize medical care in this country.

Instead of telling them to “just say no,” how about we try a little legislative ju-jitsu here? Ask your elected representatives to support an amendment by Representative John Fleming (R-La.) that would require all members of Congress and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

I can’t think of anything that would get these pompous planners to switch sides faster. They already know—as most of their constituents do not—that they have exempted themselves from most of the legislative shackles they’ve been so eager to foist on us. Enough of this “some pigs are more equal than others.” Let’s level the playing field and see how they like it.

As soon as we get Fleming’s amendment passed, let’s take away their fancy pensions and force them to join Social Security and Medicare. That will teach them to fuss with our freedoms!

Brace yourself - the health care game on Capitol Hill just took a dangerous turn.

It appears the President and Democrat leadership in the House and Senate have decided to change the rules ... disregard the U.S. Constitution ... and ram their flawed health care through at any cost.

Congress has now vowed to utilize a one-sided, Democrat-controlled legislative maneuver called "reconciliation" to get the votes they desperately need on health care.

And that's not all. President Obama has released his own version of the bill ... also side-stepping the legislative process - a move that raises serious constitutional concerns.  Our nation's legislative branch writes our laws, NOT the President.

The new bill put forward by the Obama White House?  It's no different from the old plan.

• The pro-life Stupak-Pitts Amendment?  Blatantly left out.
• Planned Parenthood in public schools?  YES!
• Federal funds to pay for abortions?  President Obama's plan does not prohibit using federal funds to pay for abortions.

This is reprehensible - a new low for the current Administration and our Congressional leaders.

Congress is not only pushing its dangerous, pro-abortion health care bills, regardless of public opinion ...

... but now, they've resorted to attempting to shove reform through using a technical budget rule called "reconciliation."

Reconciliation was not intended to be used to pass legislation!  It avoids a 60-member vote in the Senate ... only a simple majority of 51 votes would be needed in the Senate, and 218 in the House.

THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A TRICK - A WAY TO THWART THE CONSTITUTION AND DISREGARD THE RULES.

A few days ago I told you about a California Mayor who is
now in the crosshairs of a Muslim group for merely making
a reference to his "Christian community" in a speech.
Mayor R. Rex Parris is now facing "hate crime" charges!

Last Saturday, in my capacity as Dean I participated in
a special symposium at Liberty University School of Law
entitled, "Homosexual Rights and First Amendment Freedoms:
Can They Truly Coexist?"

The symposium highlighted what each of us MUST understand:

The homosexual agenda in our nation has many fronts, and
we must stand up to EVERY attack on ANY front!  Otherwise,
we will incrementally lose our right to proclaim God's
Truth about homosexuality - or any other subject, for
that matter.

The Lancaster, California, incident is such a shocking
episode that I wanted to make sure you had the latest

R. Rex Parris, the Mayor of Lancaster, California (we initially
misspelled the Mayor's name - please accept our apologies),
recently told a group of Christian ministers, "We are growing
a Christian community -- and don't let anybody shy away
from that."

And for that, Mayor Parris faces a civil rights complaint and
is being accused of committing a federal "hate crime."

First, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed
a federal civil rights complaint alleging that the mayor
had violated the civil rights of all non-Christians in
his message.

CAIR, which has been extensively investigated for providing
funds that "promote terrorism," further contends that the
Mayor used his official capacity to "promote religion."

But it gets worse...

The Antelope Valley (CA) Human Relations Task Force has
launched an additional investigation. They say that they
have the authority to deem an incident like this one a
"hate crime" or "hate incident," which is now a federal crime!

++It's "Open Season" on Christians

We knew the passage of a "Hate Crimes" bill would open the
floodgates of overt censorship and even the criminalization
of innocent public expressions of Christian faith.

That is exactly what is happening to Mayor Parris! And
this unfolding incident in California is just the beginning...

Liberty Counsel is monitoring similar cases across the
nation, and we anticipate that attacks against Christians
will intensify in the days and weeks ahead. Already, we
are hearing of legal battles taking place in Michigan,
Maryland, and other states.

      We are not surprised. This is the very outcome that caused
      us to fight against the pro-homosexual lobby that was
      pushing for anti-faith, anti-family "Hate Crimes" laws in
      the first place!

Radio at Risk

For more than 80 years, radio and the recording industry have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship: free play for free promotion. And it works. It’s a relationship that has sustained businesses on both sides.

In fact, radio’s free promotion of artists translates to as much as $2.4 billion annually in music sales for record labels and artists. And this doesn’t even include the enormous revenues they receive from concerts and merchandising.

But the labels–like many businesses–are struggling in this economy. They have failed to adapt to the digital age, and find their business model is broken. And now they want to impose a fee called a performance tax on local radio stations to subsidize their losses.

A performance tax would threaten the local radio stations that communities depend on. It would financially hamstring stations, stifle new artists and harm the listening public who rely on free local radio.

Where does the money go?

In short, the money generated from the performance tax would flow out of your community and into the pockets of the major record labels – and three out of the four are foreign-owned. The record labels would like for you to think this is all about compensating the artists, but in truth the record labels would get at least 50 percent of the proceeds from a tax on local radio.

How does this affect me?

If you’re one of the 235 million people who listen to radio each week, a tax could reduce the variety of music radio stations play, and all but eliminate the possibility of new artists breaking onto the scene. The tax could particularly affect smaller, minority-owned stations, some of which may have to switch to a talk-only format or shut down entirely.

It also affects your community. Radio stations are major contributors to public service – generating $6 billion in public service annually, providing vital news and community information and free airtime to help local charities. If a tax were imposed, stations’ critical community service efforts could be reduced.

And, worst of all, if you’re one of the 106,000 Americans employed by local radio, your job could be in jeopardy. In these troubling economic times, the last thing local radio needs is to be hit with a tax that some analysts estimate could be $2-7 billion annually.

Free Play For Free Promotion

Congress has continually recognized that local radio is different from other musical platforms and should not be subject to a performance tax. Local radio is free, so everyone, regardless of income, can have access to it. Local radio also has to fulfill certain public service obligations that other platforms do not. And importantly, the free music that radio plays provides free promotion to the record labels and artists – up to $2.4 billion annually.

Tell Congress to Support Local Radio – Take Action Now

There are currently two bills pending in Congress that would levy a performance tax on local radio – H.R.848, sponsored by Rep. John Conyers (MI-14) and S.379, sponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy (VT). Your members of Congress need to hear that you strongly oppose these bills.

Additionally, anti-performance tax resolutions have been introduced in the House and Senate in support of local radio. In the Senate, Sens. Blanche Lincoln (AR) and John Barrasso (WY) introduced S. Con. Res. 14, and in the House, Reps. Gene Green (TX-29) and Mike Conaway (TX-11) introduced H. Con. Res. 49. Both are known as the Local Radio Freedom Act. Many members of Congress already support local radio and resolutions against the performance tax. Others still need to hear your voice.

Last week on Super Bowl Sunday, President Obama, made an announcement on national TV that he would be inviting both the Republican and Democrat leadership to the Blair House in the next several weeks in an effort to work on a bipartisan solution for health care reform.  The President promised that these negotiations would be televised.  While citizens across the country have been calling for transparent negotiations for months, there is much concern that this is a "dog and pony show" being sponsored by the White House, and there will be no real bipartisan negotiations.  The fear is that the President, Madame Pelosi, and Senator Reid are only going to work with the bills that have already been passed by the House and the Senate.  There is also the fear that this is just political theater to distract from some sort of behind closed doors negotiation.  The bottom line is that we cannot let up now!

The American people do not want the legislation that has been proposed by either of these bodies.  The American people want to start from the beginning with a blank sheet of paper.  Representative Tom Price (GA) asked to start with a blank sheet of paper earlier this week.  Leader John Boehner (OH) issued a statement asking for the same thing.  Will the President and his team of negotiators agree to start with a blank sheet of paper?  According to Madame Pelosi's senior health care advisor, this is not the plan at all.  In fact, the Republicans and the American people are being set up and this "dog and pony" show is a trap!

This past week, Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) appeared on Fox News and talked about his personal "CPR" plan that he is proposing.  The basis of the plan is a mandate for anyone over 18 years of age to have insurance.  Where has Senator Gregg been the past several months?  Does he have a sweetheart lobbying job awaiting him when he completes his term?  Why on earth would this Senator not stand up and represent what the American people want?  Does he not know that 61% of the American people want Congress to completely start over on health care negotiations?

It appears that Washington, DC is just not getting the message!  This health care summit is nothing more than a PR stunt!  What is so scary is that there are some that are falling for this stunt.  It is up to us, "We the People," to once again, raise our voices, turn up the heat, and just say no to this stunt that is being attempted by the President and his team.  It is time for the President, Madame Pelosi, and Senator Reid know that you cannot fool "We the People" anymore.

Here's what she said about the "reconciliation strategy" that
requires only 51 Senate votes: "It's up to us to make sure the
public knows that this is not extraordinary...it would be a
reflection on us if we could not convince people that this
is not an unusual place to go."

Not an "unusual place to go"?  It's an arrogant abuse of the
clear will of the American people!  And it's pretty apparent
this is exactly the place the Democrat leaders plan to go.

Of course, all this is being planned while the President is
inviting Republicans to a televised event to supposedly
discuss health care reform ideas!

Clearly, the televised event is nothing more than a presidential
power play... a smokescreen to distract the media and grassroots
Americans from their real plan.

Obama has no intention of backing down from his government
takeover of healthcare. Any free-market ideas Republicans
try to present will be 'dead on arrival" - just as they have
been for the past year.

And all the while, Pelosi and Reid are putting the finishing
touches on their strategy to pass ObamaCare!

The President is trying to gain the advantage by putting
the opponents of ObamaCare on the defensive. And if he
succeeds, we will be facing a total takeover of our healthcare system.

Haiti Rejoices as 'Smile of a Child' -- the Nation's First Children's Hospital -- Nears Final Stage of Construction

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 19, 2005--"Soon Haitian children will have a hospital of their own thanks to Jan Crouch and Smile of a Child," declared Haiti's Prime Minister Gerard Latortue, during a recent interview.

Haiti, which is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, loses three out of its 20 children every year -- many before their fifth birthday. This has been widely attributed to Haiti's extreme poverty and the overwhelming need for medical care particularly in remote villages.

Enter Smile of a Child (SOC) the not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by Jan Crouch in 1994.

The new Smile of Child hospital will feature a fully integrated 100-bed medical facility with an around-the-clock emergency room and totally functional surgical unit. The hospital also plans to provide outpatient medical services for Haitians of all ages, reported an SOC medical official.

"Smile of a Child is here to serve Haiti. We love Haiti. We love its people!" announced Crouch at a press conference in Haiti.

Almost completed, the hospital will spell the difference between life and death for many Haitians. With a population of more than 8 million people, Haiti experiences a severe lack of physicians.

Assisting Smile of a Child Hospital is Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse, and president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian charitable organization, has already agreed to donate all furnishings for the hospital.

"I guess I had never seen such poverty in my whole life," reflected Crouch upon her first visit to Haiti in the mid-'80s. "When I saw utterly poor children -- diseased, crippled, naked, and most of all pathetically hungry boys and girls -- playing in gutters in the filthiest water I had ever seen, it was beyond comprehension. There they were jumping up and down and slugging through gutters. My heart broke into a million pieces. I just knew immediately that something had to be done."

What initially began as a humanitarian feeding mission and toy drive for Haitian children has now exploded into a global outreach mission. Today, Smile of a Child improves the lives of tens of thousands of needy youngsters worldwide.

"Many of the children had never owned a new toy," said Crouch. "To see their faces light up when they receive a doll or new truck cannot be expressed in mere words -- it's priceless."

It was on "Praise the Lord," TBN's flagship production, that Haiti's prime minister expressed his appreciation on behalf of his country. He publicly thanked Jan Crouch and SOC for their sacrificial work in investing in the future of Haiti's children. Joining the prime minister on the program were his cabinet members. They too shared their gratitude for Smile of a Child's compassionate outreach.

Then the prime minister, in a powerful appeal, called upon the international Christian community to come to the aid of Haiti. A global audience was challenged to help Haiti acquire ambulances and fire engines.

"Call your mayor. Ask your local fire chief. Haiti can utilize your unused emergency vehicles to save lives. What may be outdated and below your nation's standard, Haiti can use," said the prime minister.

Crouch smiled and then replied to Latortue, "By this time tomorrow, Mr. Prime Minister, grandmas around the world will be on the phones and hard at work getting Haiti what it needs. It is a joy to help the Haitian people. God loves Haiti and so do we."

This too has come to pass. Haiti now has several used but perfectly useful ambulances and fire engines thanks to the efforts of SOC and TBN viewers who responded to the need.

In addition to the hospital, SOC has teamed up with Friend Ships (www.friendships.org), a relief organization that provides large-scale humanitarian aid and establishes development programs for people lacking essential human needs.Friend Ships was involved with the actual delivery of the needed supplies. According to Friend Ships, SOC and TBN sent thousands of tons of emergency vehicles, hospital beds, hospital furniture, medical equipment, food, drinking water, clothes, teacher desks, clothing, bedding and sanitation supplies.

Haiti: MSF Treats More Than 1,000 Patients; Inflatable Hospital on the Way

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical teams in Port-au-Prince are treating large numbers of people who suffered fractures, head injuries and other major trauma during and after the January 12 earthquake.

More than 1,000 patients have received care in the four tented facilities MSF set up near the damaged buildings in which it had been working. The primary concern at the moment is the overwhelming numbers of people who need immediate treatment and major surgery. An MSF team is beginning to work in the operating theater of a major public hospital in the capital’s Cite Soleil district, while other MSF staff are trying to identify additional medical structures that remain intact.

An inflatable MSF field hospital, equipped with two operating theatres, is expected to arrive by air in the next 24 hours. Crucial personnel, including surgeons and anesthetists, and supplementary stocks of medical supplies are on the way as well.

Food, water and shelter materials are all in short supply, however. "Basic provisions were always problematic for people in Port-au-Prince but the position is far worse now," said Vincent Hoedt, one of MSF's emergency coordinators. "And obviously there's a concern for people who are already weakened by injuries. There are also shortages of things like gasoline, which affects the working of all kinds of vital equipment."

MSF has seven charter flights stocked with staff and supplies ready to travel to Port-au-Prince, but thus far, only one has been able to fly into Haiti. That flight carried 25 tons of relief material—tents, medical disaster kits, blankets, plastic sheeting, jerrycans, and hygiene and cooking sets—from an MSF facility in Panama.

While MSF is sending up to 80 additional staff members to reinforce the ongoing efforts to provide emergency care for those who need it, the organization remains concerned about our staff in Port-au-Prince. As of yet, the teams on the ground have not been able to confirm the whereabouts of all their Haitian staff.

South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster  --  the leader of a group of 13 Republicans and one Democrat State Attorneys General  --  is threatening to file a law suit against Congress in order to stop passage of the radical health care bill currently being considered.

The suit will be based on the fact that Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a deal with Democrat Senator Ben Nelson from Nebraska, who was the deciding vote for the Democrats' Obamacare bill and the deal was to have the federal government pay for Nebraska's Medicaid increases forever.  Treating one state differently from other states on Medicaid funding in order to get a Senator's vote is unconstitutional.     

South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster said:  "Politicians in Washington are proposing to pass a law that is unfair, unjust and unconstitutional — and burdens 49 states.  Senator (Ben) Nelson and the politicians in Washington are leading an assault on our constitutional rights and running up debt.”

Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson actually called Attorney General Henry McMaster to tell him to  “call off the dogs,” regarding the recent threats by the 14 State Attorneys General to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a Medicaid provision in the bill that benefits Nebraska at the expense of other states.

Senator Ben Nelson's sweetheart deal with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will cost American taxpayers in the other 49 states some $100 million over the next 10 years alone!  And to secure the votes of other Democrat members of Congress, the Democrat leadership is cynically buying their votes.

Please do your part and contact your State Attorney General in your state capital to join S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster, and his colleagues in the other states, in fighting the unconstitutional "Cornhusker Kickback" scheme.
